The cult plastic legend that is the VUWS (Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim) rides again in the form of the Reto UWS (Ultra Wide and Slim). And this got folks really excited so I decided to take the orginal out with the new kid
But how does the Reto UWS compare to the VUWS ? It would help if I had loaded the same film
I’m Sorry I goofed about this one. The M35 launched in a variety of funky colours in 2019. A simple single element plastic camera I kinda missed it at the time. I assumed it was just another version of the Harman reloadable my least favourite reusable disposable. Turns out I was wrong. This and it’s twin the M38 are a cut above the reloadables and may now be the best value model in it’s class.
With the arrival of the Dubblefilm Show, it got me thinking. What is the cheapest 35mm film camera you can buy on eBay. So you know a few days later that arrived. Trouble is the SnapJack technically isn’t new. It is in fact a rebadged Concord 850 Slim Line. But what do you get for your Tenner ?
Praktica is most associated with the East German 35mm SLRs that many a Western teenager cut their photographic teeth on in the last third of the 20th century. But by the end of the century, the Praktica brand was also seen on a host of forgettable compacts. But the Elite is more than just forgettable, it’s a bit of a rabbit hole mystery.
This Year’s Poundland Challenge has flung up some excellent high end cameras for erm… a pound (or less). This is not one of them. Any Poundland Challenge always features a few from the lower end of the market. But that does that necessarily mean awful ?
Today’s plastic lo-fi comes courtesy of Concord Camera Corp. Also known as the Vivitar IC 100. It has attracted the tag of being the Poor Guy’s LC-A but is that deserved ?
Polaroid produced some of the most Iconic cameras of the latter half of the 20th century and were the pioneers of instant film decades before the term instax was dreamed up. However this isn’t one of those and actually is just a ‘roid in name only. Does it stack up as just another cheap basic camera or is there more to meet the eye ?
This wacky fixed focus number arrived early on into the Poundland challenge. This quirky 2 lens camera was also sold as Cronus 35DL and Kin Son 35 DL and is closely related to the Miranda TL-200 and its clones. Sadly mines arrive with some batteries in – possible the most corroded batteries I’ve ever had. But could I get it working and was it worth the effort ?
I’ve heard folk rave about modern film cameras before. There are some serious devotees to the cult of Lomography and all that LSI makes for example. But Sunpet’s tiny wide angled camera originally sold as the Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim (VUWS) and today is sold as the Superheadz Wide and Slim or the Eximus has developed a similar cachet. But does it live up to it’s tag as “The Poor man’s Lomo”
Superheadz Wide & Slim, a current clone of the Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim
