The New Vintage – Meet the Camp Snap 1.03B

In my recent group test of lo-fi digital which the older 1.01 Camp Snap won, I did point out there was newer improved model and that I could have shot with a vintage filter firmware. Literally a week after getting home my new Camp Snap 1.03B turned up and was interestingly preloaded with the vintage film firmware. So time to uncork and sample.

Crazy Little thing called Lomography La Sardina

Back in 2011 Lomography released the curious little shooter called La Sardina. It is retro styled camera designed to resemble the sardine can camera of the 1930’s. It’s been a success for those crafty Austrian purveyors of plastic. But in a world where now Lomography has rivals how does it stand up. Does it still stand as Queen of plastic fantastic or is another one bites the dust ?

South By Southwest – Lo-Fi Digital Shoot out in Bristol

Amid on the ructions around Paper shoot, let’s take one and shoot it alongside current rivals the Camp Snap and the Flashback ONE35 on a trip South by South West. Sadly my Budget couldn’t afford SXSW in Texas but I headed to equally more legendary but Autumnal  Bristol followed by Manchester in the UK for a Lo-Fi Digital Shoot out.

One of the smallest camera I’ve ever shot offers HD video,  2MP stills and the smallest LCD screen I’ve ever seen all for the price of round in your average pub. And It’s not spectacular, maybe even rubbish but it is fun. It’s just that not all Y3000 are the same……..

Cosina CT1G Review

The Cosina CT series of manual focus K mount SLR. at first glance seem to be a minor footnote but cameras from this series would end up being some the last film SLR ever made and even were the basis of the last non Leica M mount rangefinders. But these models weren’t branded Cosina. This CT1G is one of the lesser known but still a reasonable K1000 alternative.

Film Never Die’s Nana camera had a caught the zeitgeist of new film cameras in 2023. The company is a small Australian based film & camera supplier’s latest camera pre-launched quiet in late 2023 but when a follow up Kickstarter ran earlier this year, it came in for some grief on social media before anyone outside the company had held one. And then there’s the question of the dubious funding of that Kickstarter. So what’s the story Morning Glory.

Tinfoil hatting on a budget – The Nikon Coolpix P500 Review

The current Coolpix P models like the P1000 and the P900 have become tools of choice for some wildlife photogs and flat earth conspiracy theorists. That’s due to their bonkers zoom capability (x125 in the case of P1000). But these are well equipped cameras that have a a host of more genuine application. And you can still expect to pay a hefty price for a new or second hand one. So how about their 2011 predecessor the P500 ?

Budgetary Halves – the BHF-01 Half frame review

New Half frame cameras are the range in film photography at the mo. But what if you’re budget can’t stretch to a Pentax 17 nor even to a humble Kodak Ektar H35 ? Well you could try the half frame versions of the dubblefilm show. Or you could try this ? Or it’s clones like the Flic film Double shot. But it might look a little familar….
