The Cosina CT series of manual focus K mount SLR. at first glance seem to be a minor footnote but cameras from this series would end up being some the last film SLR ever made and even were the basis of the last non Leica M mount rangefinders. But these models weren’t branded Cosina. This CT1G is one of the lesser known but still a reasonable K1000 alternative.

The company is a small Australian based film & camera supplier’s latest camera pre-launched quiet in late 2023 but when a follow up Kickstarter ran earlier this year, it came in for some grief on social media before anyone outside the company had held one. Tinfoil hatting on a budget – The Nikon Coolpix P500 Review

The current Coolpix P models like the P1000 and the P900 have become tools of choice for some wildlife photogs and flat earth conspiracy theorists. That’s due to their bonkers zoom capability (x125 in the case of P1000). But these are well equipped cameras that have a a host of more genuine application. And you can still expect to pay a hefty price for a new or second hand one. So how about their 2011 predecessor the P500 ?
