Rebooted But is it Suited ? – New Yashica MF2 Super v The Old One

When the New Yashica announced the MF2, let’s be honest it wasn’t met with much excitement. But they got enough kickstarter backers and actually delivered a camera that works. But is it as good (or should I say mediocre) as the camera it essentially reboots, the Kyocera era Yashica MF2 super? And should you bother with either?

Did we Ask For It ? – Unboxing the New Yashica MF-2 Super

So the new Yashica actually just made funding for this MF-2 Super at the last minute. Gone was the heady days of the Y35 retro digital camera launch when the company gathered more than 12 times the funding it required.

But the MF-2 is a different proposition. It’s a true 35mm camera unlike the flimsy reloadable disposable MF-1. I’d argue it is the camera they should have launched with not the Y35. But I’m not sure the world needs it.

Is The yashica MF-2 a Kickstarter Too Far ?

As 2019 draws to a close you don’t need to watch the Eastenders or Gavin & Stacey Christmas special for a festive cliffhanger. Over in Crowdfunding land, a certain Yashica is running out of time to get it’s new 35mm film camera funded. And there’s even been some backer pull out.

Fallout 2018 – A year Of living with the Yashica Y35

Possibly the most controversial camera in modern times arrived through my door last year. It wasn’t great and even I’ll admit that my phone and even some entry level 2010 second hand compacts are better clinically. But a few of us reviewers felt the Yashica Y35 didn’t deserve all the hate it got.

But over 1000 shots & one year on how do I find it ?

The New Yashica MF-2 Edges closer

As deliveries of the Kickstarter backed MF-1 finish, the new Yashica seem to confirms that they will be going to launch their next kickstarter {Novella]. This is the MF-2, a camera that is confusingly is not based on the original Yashica MF-2 but the later Kyocera era Yashica MF-2 Super.

Reloading in the Disposable World – The New Yashica MF-1 Review

So I’ve been playing around with the new Yashica MF-1 “art” camera for a few days and have started to get a grasp of this plastic 35mm fixed everything camera. But is it indeed a tweaked single use camera as many speculate and more importantly is it any good ?

Houston We Have a Problem – The New Yashica MF-1 – First Thoughts

How bad could it be ? I mean the Y35 wasn’t that awful….

When the new start up version of Yashica launched the Y35 Digi-film camera, the knives were rapidly out before it even launched and many thought it would be sayonara once more.

But they came back promising both film and film cameras and this morning a package arrived from Hong Kong containing both. I’m rapidly wishing they hadn’t come back on the basis of the camera…

Resurrection Blues- The Yashica MF-2 Super Review

As I sit and type this the first Film Camera to bear the Yashica name in over a decade is winging its way to me from Hong Kong. Whether the New MF-1 is any good or more likely not remains to be seen. But the new Yashica are also hinting at 2 new cameras. In the long term a 35mm version of the Yashica-44 TLR but perhaps more imminent is the MF-2. Turns out the MF-2 is based on the 1980’s MF-2 Super a fixed focus flash cam.

So you know, I decided to test the original.

Prelude to the Bling Boys – Yashica T AF One roll Review

I’m not accustomed to legendary elite high end compacts. But sometimes the precursor to them fall my way such as this early Yashica T* series. Whilst it still has a cache it’s a fraction of the cost of the later models. This means it can be bought for the price of a couple of non discounted domino’s Pizzas

But was it a slice of heaven or destined to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Yashica’s Back – And This Time It’s Analogue

Last year’s Yashica Y35 launch led to one of the biggest outpouring of anger the photography community has ever seen. Whilst the Y35 wasn’t as bad some the vitriol, it was far from perfect. So there was some surprise when rumours of a Yashica branded film. But they’ve now pushed it even further with the launch of a Kickstarter for 2 new films, an analogue camera and the promise of more.

But What’s the catch ?
