The Dubblefilm Show – Unboxing and First impressions

2020 has turned out to a bit of a contrast then. In the General world it hasn’t been great has it. But oddly In the film photography world things have been quite interesting. We’ve had a series of new products from film, to camera to gear. Now cheeky tinted film makers Dubblefilm have decided to join in the camera market with their Show camera. One landed on my doormat this morning and I’ve been out using it.

Brace Yerself – The Kodak Brownie Cresta II Review

I’d been strangely unsatisfied with the Cresta 3, the third of Kodak UK’s Bakelite Brownies for 120 film. But could its glass lens predecessor be a better choice ? It is but you all need to brace youselves in more ways than one.

Rebooted But is it Suited ? – New Yashica MF2 Super v The Old One

When the New Yashica announced the MF2, let’s be honest it wasn’t met with much excitement. But they got enough kickstarter backers and actually delivered a camera that works. But is it as good (or should I say mediocre) as the camera it essentially reboots, the Kyocera era Yashica MF2 super? And should you bother with either?

Did we Ask For It ? – Unboxing the New Yashica MF-2 Super

So the new Yashica actually just made funding for this MF-2 Super at the last minute. Gone was the heady days of the Y35 retro digital camera launch when the company gathered more than 12 times the funding it required.

But the MF-2 is a different proposition. It’s a true 35mm camera unlike the flimsy reloadable disposable MF-1. I’d argue it is the camera they should have launched with not the Y35. But I’m not sure the world needs it.

Retro Digital 1 – The Olympus Camedia C-120 (D-380) Revisited

We often stick the tag of crap but good to film cameras. As much as I love shooting film I’m not a total Luddite and have been known to mix it up with digital. But what do budget Digital of yesteryear work out like ?

And what better place to start is my first digital – the Olympus Camedia C-120 (aka D-380). It looks lousy compared to even a modern entry level smart phone camera with Fixed focus and the sheer luxury of 2 Mega Pixels. But why did this camera travel around the world.

A VUWS with Flash ? – The Curious Tale of the Kodak KV250

So this is a review of a Kodak camera then ?

Well not quite. This was never sold by Kodak, the name here has just been licenced by Vivitar. Its actually just a Vivitar T201 Lx under the hood a camera that has a cult following. But is that deserved ?

The Raiders of the Olympus Lomo – Part 3 The Olympus Trip MD3

So my quest for the Olympus Lomo continues with another offering from the Plastic Trip series. Could this older model knock off the Trip 505 from the most Lomo like hot seat ?

Is this a lo-fi gem, a pile of junk or an actually okay camera. Grap your whip and Fedora and join us on this journey across erm…. the foot bridge.

Plastic Meltdown – A Yashica MF-1 Group Test Comparison

So The new MF-1 has landed and turned out to be as expected not much more than a re-loadable disposable. It wasn’t awful at that job but how does it compare to some alternatives ? Time to turn out the plastic & single use cameras and fight it out !!!

Reloading in the Disposable World – The New Yashica MF-1 Review

So I’ve been playing around with the new Yashica MF-1 “art” camera for a few days and have started to get a grasp of this plastic 35mm fixed everything camera. But is it indeed a tweaked single use camera as many speculate and more importantly is it any good ?
