Reloaded And Ready – Lomography Simple Use Camera Review

I’ve ended up over the past couple of years reviewing quite a few single use and reloaded disposable class cameras. But they all come with issues. But the camera that started the reloadable disposable thing off finally arrived on my mat, And there’s a good reason why this is one of the most regarded cameras in the class.

Go Go Budget Digital No 2 – Nikon Coolpix 5600

My run of average Joe digital cameras continues with this 2005 entry level shooter from Nikon. 2005 marks the midway point from the 2000/2001 highwater point for film to the generally accepted 2010 almost complete dominance of the camera market by digital. But what does this entry level shooter have to offer. And does a 5MP camera still cut it today ?

Rebooted But is it Suited ? – New Yashica MF2 Super v The Old One

When the New Yashica announced the MF2, let’s be honest it wasn’t met with much excitement. But they got enough kickstarter backers and actually delivered a camera that works. But is it as good (or should I say mediocre) as the camera it essentially reboots, the Kyocera era Yashica MF2 super? And should you bother with either?

Did we Ask For It ? – Unboxing the New Yashica MF-2 Super

So the new Yashica actually just made funding for this MF-2 Super at the last minute. Gone was the heady days of the Y35 retro digital camera launch when the company gathered more than 12 times the funding it required.

But the MF-2 is a different proposition. It’s a true 35mm camera unlike the flimsy reloadable disposable MF-1. I’d argue it is the camera they should have launched with not the Y35. But I’m not sure the world needs it.

The Ricoh that’s a Nikon made by Mamiya – Welcome to the Ricoh Singlex

Ricoh developed a bit of a reputation for good SLR bodies and lenses using the M42 & Pentax K Mount. The company still makes K mount dSLR under the Pentax brand. But weirdly their first SLR the Singlex wasn’t developed by them. In fact it is basically a rebranded Nikon.  But a  Nikon that wasn’t even made by Nikon.

Curious ? Read on.

Is The yashica MF-2 a Kickstarter Too Far ?

As 2019 draws to a close you don’t need to watch the Eastenders or Gavin & Stacey Christmas special for a festive cliffhanger. Over in Crowdfunding land, a certain Yashica is running out of time to get it’s new 35mm film camera funded. And there’s even been some backer pull out.

It’s not a real Nikon but … – The Nikon FE10 Overview

Launched in 1996 few cameras get the goat of some ‘serious’ Nikon users as this and its sibling the FM10. The major sin is they aren’t made by Nikon.  Even wikipedia  describes both as “not a true member of the Nikon compact F-series SLRs,”.  But does that make them bad cameras ?

Of course things are not helped by that lens…

Retro Digital 1 – The Olympus Camedia C-120 (D-380) Revisited

We often stick the tag of crap but good to film cameras. As much as I love shooting film I’m not a total Luddite and have been known to mix it up with digital. But what do budget Digital of yesteryear work out like ?

And what better place to start is my first digital – the Olympus Camedia C-120 (aka D-380). It looks lousy compared to even a modern entry level smart phone camera with Fixed focus and the sheer luxury of 2 Mega Pixels. But why did this camera travel around the world.
