Amkov Camera Kickstarter – Why I cancelled

I’m a bit of a fan of kickstarter and from a photo point of view have generally been happy with what I’ve received with the exception of the Robert Hamm’s disappearing Box Cameras.

But a new kickstarter digital camera caught my eye. A 4K vlogging camera to challenge the likes of the Sony ZV-1 or Lumix G100 for early bird less than a $100USD.

But just how good is this ? There is now a product preview video that answers a lot of this and led me to cancel

The Three that went – 3 very different travel film cameras

Theo from Photo Thinking recently reviewed the Lumix FX07. That’s aa day to day travel digicam. This got me thinking about what film cameras I’ve used as a travel cameras. Handily this came in useful when Stephen Dowling from Kosmo Foto challenged us bloggers to write about 3 cameras.

Champagne Supernova ? – The Nikon F50/N50 Review

The 90’s was a era of massive change in both society and the camera worls. Against a backdrop of Brit Pop, Canon usurped  Nikon’s lead role by the start of the decade. Turns out it was a bit of a re-hash.

The Lone Star – The Urban Outfitters VF201 Review

We live in an era of film resurgence. With new models appearing it seems every month from Revo’s Plastic Shooters to Nons’s Instax SLRs. But guess what for a few years a major fashion retailer has been selling a new Autofocus 35mm compact for the measly sum of $28USD.

Except that’s not quite true. Someone is telling Porkies about the VF201.

The Rise of The Machines – Is A.I. challenging Photography ?

The Colorado State Fair hit global news last month. It wasn’t because of some weird animal or corndog incident. It was down the very concept of what we call art. That’s because an Artificial intelligence (A.I.) created artwork walked away with first prize in the Digital Arts segment of the Fine Arts competition. this has led to a lot of outrage and navel gazing in the digital Arts world.

And turns out A.I can do photos now too. But should we worry too ?

You Wanna Go Large ? – Lomography LC-A 120 A Long Term Test

To some, the LC-A 120 might just seem to be an overpriced lump of plastic designed to exploit more dollars for Hipsters. But the LC-A 120 is without doubt one if not the most important camera launched in the last decade. And I’d argue it’s one of the best new cameras despite a few flaws.
